Umbrella training, the leading nationwide training and apprenticeship provider for the hospitality and corporate services sector has today been announced as the only apprenticeship provider to have achieved the Princess Royal Training award by City and Guilds group in 2020.
The award recognises employers across the United Kingdom with outstanding training and development programmes that have had a direct impact on business performance.
Presented to 43 companies across the UK, the awards are in their fifth year, and also mark HRH 70th birthday.
This year, Umbrella Training has extended its Umbrella Colleague Academy to ensure longevity in their provision and transition to a world post Covid-19.
The academy offers a broad range of learning and development tools which enable them to continue to develop their skills and knowledge about apprenticeships and the wider sector, and also offers the latest teaching and marketing techniques.
Recipients of the prestigious award come from a wealth of sectors including health and social care, manufacturing, public sector and technology all proved the value of investing in L&D to address a wide range of business needs.
Winners this year demonstrated exceptional commitment to training, despite facing unprecedented challenges of Covid-19.
Organisations that have met the standard in 2020 differ in size and sector. From Willis Towers Watson, Co-op and Royal Mail Group through to smaller organisations such as Gateway Community Ltd, Springhill Hospice and Umbrella Training.
This year has seen a wide range of applications using training to address challenges across a variety of differing priorities.
Adele Oxberry, founder and CEO, Umbrella Training, said:
“We are incredibly proud of this achievement. The recognition is important as it celebrates the hard work that our team have put into their own professional development and personal growth, as well as the lengths they go to in order to deliver meaningful apprenticeships for our learners and business partners.”
Kirstie Donnelly MBE, chief executive of the City & Guilds Group said:
“Congratulations to all of the organisations who have achieved the Princess Royal Training Awards standard of excellence this year. We know that having a highly skilled workforce will be essential as we start to rebuild our economy post Covid-19, and in increasingly uncertain times making sure we invest in people has never been more important, nor has continuing to showcase the impact it has on organisational success.”
