Embedding a new leadership culture
Theme: Leadership and Management
Topics: Coaching and mentoring
The DVLA achieved the Award in 2019 and resubmitted its leadership development programme in 2022. In the last three years, the programme has evolved and developed, moving from workshop delivery to individual coaching, blended learning and small group micro sessions. Participant performance has improved by 10.8%, exceeding the outcomes of the previous programme and workshop time has reduced from 52 hours to 14.5 hours on average.
Designing a coherent, joined-up approach
Themes: Upskilling
Topics: Post-covid recovery
DVLA wanted to create a more coherent, cost-effective and joined-up approach across its Operational and Customer Services Directorate. Designing a learning pathways map has worked as the scaffolding for the initiative and following the first lockdown DVLA was able to redeploy staff who had been trained during the pandemic to focus on work that had built up, resulting in significantly reducing the backlog.
Maximising performance during period of change
Themes: Leadership and Management
This Government Agency is going through a significant period of change with paper-based transactions being increasingly supplemented (and eventually replaced) with digital services. The agency implemented a new training initiative to develop employees’ leadership potential which has led to a 5% increase in leadership capability levels. 78% line managers also report a tangible benefit from delegates back in the workplace.
