About the Awards

Honouring employers who have created outstanding training and skills development programmes which have resulted in exceptional benefits.

The result is an award that highlights the range and quality of training that exists across all sectors.

Launched in 2016, we created the Princess Royal Training Awards after listening to feedback from employers. Our objective was simple: to reward and celebrate organisations which saw the value and wider organisational benefits of investing in learning and development. The Awards are supported by our President, HRH The Princess Royal, who is a keen advocate of skills development.

The Awards are evidence-based and applications are assessed against a standard of excellence, which we call Hallmarks. This means that organisations don’t compete against each other; instead they need to show that through their exceptional training and development programmes, they are meeting a standard of excellence.

Every year we celebrate recipients from huge global organisations (who can prove their impact within the UK) to small non-profits and organisations of all shapes and sizes in between. What they all share is the ability to show that their investment in learning and development is making a positive and measurable impact on their organisation.

We recognise that we have created a robust application process, and that time and commitment is needed in order to apply. We also know from listening to our 350+ recipients that the ripple effect of achieving an Award is immeasurable.

Our Awards are free to enter, royally recognised and independently assessed by a team of experienced Assessors. If you decide that 2024 may be your year to apply, we are here to support you.

How to apply

The application process consists of three parts: an online application form, a virtual visit from an Assessor and a recommendation to HRH.
